Panic spread across the Oloje-Ogidi area of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Friday after the body of a female police officer attached to the Ogidi Police Division was found lifeless.

The officer, identified as a Woman Inspector (W/INSPR) and prosecutor in the division, was reportedly abducted by unknown assailants on Thursday. Her body was discovered the following morning by security operatives.

Reliable sources revealed that the officer was kidnapped and murdered in the Oloje area, with her remains recovered in a nearby bush—suggesting she may have been killed shortly after her abduction.

As of the time of filing this report, details surrounding her abduction and killing remained unclear.

The incident has heightened fear and tension within the Oloje and Ogidi communities, as residents lament worsening insecurity. This comes amid ongoing security operations by government forces and local vigilantes aimed at flushing out criminal elements in parts of Kwara North and South.

Kwara State has recently witnessed an increase in cases of kidnapping, killings, and banditry, forcing many residents to relocate from their ancestral homes to safer locations.

Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, for comments were unsuccessful as calls and messages were not responded to.
