FCT POLICE DISMISS VIRAL CLAIMS OF KIDNEY SALES IN NYANYA

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has dismissed as false a viral social media report alleging that young residents in the Nyanya area had sold their kidneys for money. The report also claimed that an agent in neighbouring Mararaba was buying human kidneys.

In a statement, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the command had neither received nor confirmed any report relating to the alleged sale of human kidneys. She stressed that no statement or official communication on the matter had been issued by the police.

The police spokesperson urged members of the public to disregard the viral report, describing it as unverified information capable of creating unnecessary fear and panic among residents. The command also warned against the indiscriminate circulation of claims that have not been confirmed by relevant authorities.

The clarification comes amid growing concern over the spread of unverified information on social media, particularly reports involving serious criminal activities such as human organ trafficking. The police said residents should rely on credible sources and official channels when seeking information about security-related incidents.
