FCMB RECEIVES ISACA RECOGNITION FOR STRENGTHENING CYBERSECURITY AND DIGITAL TRUST

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has received an excellence award from the Lagos Chapter of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) in recognition of its contribution to technology governance, cybersecurity, risk management, audit, assurance and the advancement of digital trust in Nigeria.

The recognition was presented during the ISACA Lagos Chapter’s 30th anniversary celebration and awards ceremony held in Lagos on August 21, 2026. FCMB Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Yemisi Edun, received a commemorative plaque on behalf of the bank, highlighting the institution’s continued partnership with the professional association and its contribution to strengthening technology-related standards and professional development in the country.

Speaking on the recognition, Edun said FCMB valued its relationship with ISACA and regarded the honour as an indication of the importance of building strong professional standards around digital trust. She noted that as financial services become increasingly dependent on technology, effective governance, cybersecurity, risk management and assurance have become critical to protecting customers, strengthening institutions and supporting sustainable economic development.

Edun further expressed confidence that ISACA would continue to play an important role in developing professionals equipped with the technical knowledge and leadership abilities required to manage emerging risks while taking advantage of new opportunities created by technological advancement.

Also speaking at the event, ISACA Global Chief Executive Officer, Erik Prusch, praised the strength and resilience of Nigeria’s information technology and cybersecurity professionals. He stressed the importance of having adequately trained and competent personnel capable of helping organisations respond to rapid technological changes, manage emerging risks and make effective use of new technologies.

The President of the ISACA Lagos Chapter and Chairman of ISACA Nigeria Chapters, Justus Osuji, said the anniversary celebration provided an opportunity to reflect on three decades of professional service, leadership and knowledge development. He highlighted the chapter’s contributions to information systems auditing, cybersecurity, governance, risk management, compliance and emerging technologies in Nigeria and beyond.

FCMB’s recognition comes against the backdrop of the financial sector’s growing reliance on digital platforms and technology-driven services. The bank has continued to invest in digital capabilities, technology infrastructure, cybersecurity and risk management as part of its broader efforts to provide secure and convenient financial services to individuals, businesses and institutions.
