FBI ARRESTS IRISH-NIGERIAN MAN OVER $100K TICKET SCAM
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested a 47-year-old Irish-Nigerian man, Ajibola Oduntan, for allegedly running a ticket resale fraud scheme that cost the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts nearly $100,000.
Oduntan, who is based in Northern Ireland, was arrested upon his arrival in the United States last month. He was formally charged with wire fraud and wire fraud conspiracy on September 3, 2025, according to documents filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.
Prosecutors allege that during the 2023 run of the Broadway show Wicked, Oduntan used stolen credit card information to purchase 61 tickets, later reselling them on StubHub. The transactions, traced through associated emails and PayPal accounts, revealed deposits of over $350,000 between January 2023 and July 2024.
Oduntan pleaded not guilty and is being held at the Grayson County Detention Center, pending a jury trial scheduled for November 10.
Officials have urged theatergoers to buy tickets only through official outlets to avoid falling victim to fraud.
