FAMILY CRIES OUT OVER MISSING 35-YEAR-OLD IN IBADAN, LINKS DISAPPEARANCE TO INHERITANCE DISPUTE
Oyo Family Seeks Help to Find Missing Man Amid Alleged Threats Over Land Inheritance
The family of Saheed Adekunle Yusuff, a 35-year-old resident of Elolad Estate, Ologuneru, Ibadan, has raised serious concern over his sudden disappearance, which they believe may be linked to a family inheritance dispute.
Yusuff was last seen in 2024, and all efforts by his family to locate him have so far proved fruitless. Speaking to journalists in Ibadan on Monday, his elder sister, Ms. Fatima Bolaji Yusuff, revealed that Saheed had allegedly been receiving threats from a politically connected uncle, believed to be pressuring him over land documents and property inherited from their late father.
“Saheed might have fled for his life due to the constant threats. They were after him because he had the documents proving ownership of our father’s land,” Fatima stated.
According to her, the situation turned even more tragic when one of their cousins, Olusegun Olawuyi, died after allegedly being attacked by individuals connected to the same uncle. Olusegun was rushed to Adeoyo Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
“Since the attack that led to Olusegun’s death, we haven’t seen Saheed. What’s worse is that the threats haven’t stopped. The same uncle, Olalekan Kazeem Yusuff, is still threatening us and demanding that we produce Saheed,” she added.
The case was reported to the Eleyele Police Station in Ibadan, but so far, no breakthrough has been made.
Fatima appealed to security agencies and human rights organizations to urgently step in, not only to help locate Saheed but also to protect the rest of the family from further intimidation.
“We are living in fear. Our family needs justice and protection,” she said, visibly shaken.
The case underscores the dangers that inheritance disputes can pose when left unchecked, especially in situations where powerful individuals act with impunity. As the family continues their search, many are calling for a more robust investigation and accountability for the threats and violence that have already claimed one life.
