FALCONETS TROUNCE GHANA’S PRINCESSES TO WIN WAFU B U-20 TITLE
Nigeria’s Falconets have emerged champions of the WAFU B U-20 Girls Tournament after defeating Ghana’s Princesses 3-0 on Wednesday morning at the Stade Omnisport d’Adjohoun in the Benin Republic.
The two-time FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup silver medallists were in dominant form, going 2-0 up within 25 minutes through goals from Janet Akekoromowei (17th minute) and Alaba Olabiyi (24th minute). Ramotalahi Kareem later sealed the emphatic victory with a third goal.
Akekoromowei, who scored twice against Ghana in their earlier meeting, continued her fine form, while Kareem added to her tally after netting a brace against Benin Republic in the previous game.
The Falconets’ victory saw them finish the three-team tournament with a perfect record — nine points from three matches, scoring three goals in each game. Ghana’s Princesses finished second with six points, while hosts Benin Republic placed third.
With this triumph, the Falconets reaffirmed their dominance in women’s football across West Africa.
