FairMoney Nigeria has attributed the successful repayment of its N5.86bn commercial paper to strict financial discipline and its commitment to maintaining investor confidence.

The digital lender recently redeemed its Series 6 Commercial Paper under its N10bn Commercial Paper Issuance Programme, paying investors the full N5.86bn principal at maturity.

Managing Director of FairMoney Nigeria, Henry Obiekea, said meeting financial obligations remained central to the company’s approach to raising capital and building long-term investor trust.

He said the successful redemption demonstrated the company’s focus on responsible financial management and maintaining a stable balance sheet.

Obiekea also highlighted the role of the FMDQ Exchange in providing a platform through which fintechs and microfinance institutions can access domestic funding.

He said access to commercial paper and other debt instruments allows financial institutions to diversify their sources of funding while supporting credit expansion.

FairMoney said it would continue expanding services including retail loans, savings, bill payments and merchant asset financing while maintaining focus on risk management and financial stability.

The company said its funding strategy would support its broader goal of expanding access to financial services in Nigeria.
