FAAN REMOVES FIRM OVER ALLEGED ILLEGAL VEHICLE CLAMPING AT ABUJA AIRPORT

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has ordered the immediate removal of a transport company accused of illegally clamping vehicles and collecting ₦25,000 penalties from motorists at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The action followed a complaint alleging irregular enforcement of the airport’s parking and pick-up rules. The complaint also claimed that some motorists were directed to make payments through personal accounts and Point-of-Sale operators rather than official payment channels.

FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, said the matter was escalated to Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku, who ordered the company’s immediate ejection from the airport.

FAAN said the company no longer had a valid agreement with the airport and had previously been warned against such practices.

The development highlights FAAN’s effort to protect airport users and ensure that parking enforcement and related payments are handled through authorised channels.

The authority reaffirmed that it would take action against practices considered illegal or capable of inconveniencing passengers and other airport users.
