EXXONMOBIL DECLARES FORCE MAJEURE ON ERHA CRUDE EXPORTS
ExxonMobil has declared a force majeure on exports of Nigeria’s Erha crude grade, citing operational challenges affecting production and shipment activities.
The declaration means the company may be unable to fully meet some contractual obligations due to circumstances beyond its control, potentially affecting crude supply from the offshore Erha field.
Industry stakeholders said the development could create temporary disruptions in Nigeria’s crude export schedule and add pressure to the country’s oil production outlook.
Energy analysts noted that disruptions in major oil assets can impact government revenue, foreign exchange earnings, and Nigeria’s position in the global crude market.
However, experts said the impact would depend on the duration of the force majeure and how quickly operational issues are resolved.
They added that improving infrastructure, addressing operational risks, and maintaining a stable investment environment are critical to sustaining production and attracting long-term investment in Nigeria’s upstream oil sector.
ExxonMobil is expected to provide further updates as efforts continue to restore normal export operations from the Erha field.
