EX-MISS JAMAICA SUES MISS UNIVERSE ORGANISATION OVER STAGE ACCIDENT
Former Miss Jamaica, Dr Gabrielle Henry, has filed a lawsuit against the Miss Universe Organisation and two related companies over a stage accident during the 2025 Miss Universe competition in Thailand.
Henry filed the suit on September 21 in Delaware, United States, bringing five claims including negligence, negligent supervision and emotional distress. She alleges that she fell through an uncovered opening in the stage while following rehearsed movements during the competition.
The former beauty queen said the accident resulted in serious injuries and required hospitalisation. She has also said the injuries affected her medical career and continue to require medical care and rehabilitation.
Henry alleges that adequate safety measures should have been put in place around the stage opening. Her lawyer said the legal action was aimed at seeking accountability over safety arrangements at the event.
The Miss Universe Organisation said it had not received the lawsuit and therefore could not comment on claims it had not seen. The organisation also said Henry’s health and wellbeing had been a priority and disputed some aspects of responsibility for the event’s production and safety arrangements.
The lawsuit names the Miss Universe Organisation, JKN Legacy Inc. and Legacy Holding Group USA as defendants.
Henry, who represented Jamaica at the 2025 competition, said she remained focused on her recovery following the incident.
