EX-BAUCHI SSG JOINS SDP, DECLARES GOVERNORSHIP AMBITION
Former Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Ibrahim Kashim, has joined the Social Democratic Party and declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election.
Kashim made the announcement during a media chat in Bauchi, saying his decision was driven by concerns over underdevelopment in agriculture, education, and poverty reduction.
He previously resigned from the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed in December 2024 and later left the Peoples Democratic Party in July 2025.
Speaking on governance, Kashim said reforms must be based on laws, due process, and consistent policy implementation rather than arbitrary decisions.
Explaining his choice of the SDP, he described the party as one with historical significance and an existing structure across wards and local governments in the state.
He also called on members of other political parties to join the SDP, expressing confidence that voters in Bauchi State would prioritise competence over party loyalty in 2027.
