EX-ADAMAWA LAWMAKER JOINS GOVERNORSHIP RACE, UNVEILS AGENDA
A former member of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Wafari Theman, has joined the 2027 Adamawa State governorship race under the platform of the Young Progressives Party.
Theman unveiled his 17-point agenda on Monday in Yola, the state capital, saying he entered the race with plans to introduce modern technology and skills to accelerate the state’s development.
He said technology could play an important role in addressing insecurity in the state, particularly by improving the ability of security agencies to identify and respond to threats.
“With modern technology, tackling insecurity in Adamawa State cannot be a difficult task,” he said.
The governorship aspirant said security had moved beyond conventional methods and that technology could be used to detect threats and improve the accuracy of security operations.
Theman said that if elected governor in 2027, his administration would establish Security Trust Funds as part of measures to address insecurity across the state.
He said his 17-point manifesto would focus on priority areas and would be guided by practical evidence and solutions.
According to Theman, his security blueprint would adopt a broad-based approach involving traditional rulers, civil society organisations, religious groups, youths and women’s organisations.
He also said his proposed administration would place greater attention on rural communities, where a large proportion of the state’s population resides.
The man said his government would seek to revive cultural values through a coordinated platform while involving officials from relevant security agencies and other stakeholders.
On education, the YPP aspirant promised to prioritise access to basic education for children across the state.
“Under my government, no child will be out of school nor denied the opportunity to have basic education on account of poverty or financial standing of his parents,” he said.
He also said his administration would focus on addressing challenges in the state’s health sector.
According to him, the proposed health policy would target existing gaps in healthcare delivery and seek to improve services for residents across Adamawa State.
