Former Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has declared that this season’s Premier League title is Arsenal’s to lose, following the Gunners’ impressive run of form.

Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal have surged to the top of the league table, opening a four-point lead ahead of their closest challengers. The North London side currently sit six points clear of Manchester City and seven ahead of Liverpool, firmly establishing themselves as title favourites.

Speaking on his podcast, Mikel Obi—who had previously questioned Arsenal’s mentality—admitted that the team has grown into one of the most complete squads in Europe.

“Martinelli coming off the bench, winning them games. Eze is coming off the bench. They are winning games,” Mikel said.
“Merino as well is injured. Havertz is injured. No Odegaard, no Gabriel Jesus. It’s frightening.”

He continued, “Yeah, the squad that Arsenal has got right now… and Mikel Arteta knows that. He knows that this is Arsenal’s title to lose.”

Arsenal’s depth and consistency have impressed many this season, as the team continues to perform strongly despite injuries to key players. Their next few fixtures are expected to be crucial in maintaining their momentum at the top of the table.
