EPL: GARY NEVILLE REVISES TOP-FOUR PREDICTION, NAMES TEAMS IN TITLE RACE
Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has admitted that the opening weekend of the new Premier League season has forced him to rethink his top-four predictions.
Matchday one saw Liverpool beat Bournemouth 4-2, Manchester City thrash Wolves 4-0, while Arsenal edged Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford. The performances, especially United’s narrow loss to Arsenal, left Neville impressed despite the result.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville revealed he now believes his old club could finish in the top four this season — a major shift from his earlier prediction.
“Last week, I had United finishing between sixth and eighth,” Neville said. “But after watching them against Arsenal, I really liked the performance. If they bring in a goalkeeper and with the talent they’ve got up front — plus no European football to distract them — I think they’ll surprise people and push into the top four.”
When it came to the title race, Neville was less certain, tipping Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal as the three main contenders.
“I think they’re all in with an equal chance,” he explained. “Arsenal have the right materials, but they still need to sort out the forward line. Signing Viktor Gyökeres could make the difference for them.”
With Neville’s revised outlook, the Premier League race looks set to be even more unpredictable — with three genuine title challengers and a resurgent Manchester United in the mix for a Champions League return.
