Former England and Barcelona forward Gary Lineker has praised Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres, outlining six key qualities that make the Swedish forward a unique asset to Mikel Arteta’s team.

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Lineker noted that while Gyokeres is yet to hit top scoring form — having gone six Premier League games without a goal — his overall contribution to Arsenal’s attack remains invaluable. The 27-year-old has so far scored three goals in all competitions for the North London club this season.

According to Lineker, Gyokeres provides Arsenal with:

A threat in behind defences,

The ability to create space for midfielders and wingers,

Aggressive running,

A tendency to spin defenders,

A knack for attacking spaces inside the box, and

A strong link-up presence that enhances Arsenal’s overall play.

Lineker added:

“Even though he hasn’t scored loads yet, Viktor Gyokeres gives them something different. He offers movement and energy that opens up play. The goals will come for him, especially now that Bukayo Saka is back and looking sharp again.”

Despite the slow start in front of goal, Arsenal fans will take confidence in Lineker’s belief that Gyokeres’ qualities will soon translate into consistent scoring form.
