ENUGU LIFTS BANISHMENT ON MOB ATTACK SURVIVOR, SIX ARRAIGNED

 The leadership of Azunkwo Ndeagbor community in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State has revoked the banishment of a 34-year-old mother of six who survived an alleged mob attack.

The decision followed intervention by the Women’s Aid Collective, WACOL, which has been advocating for the survivor’s protection and access to justice.

The said woman and her family were reportedly banished from the community after she reported the incident to law enforcement authorities. However, the community leadership has now formally withdrawn the banishment order and returned her personal belongings, including her mobile phone and water storage tank.

WACOL also disclosed that the Enugu State Police Command had arrested and arraigned six suspects allegedly connected to the incident.

The organisation said it was continuing to push for the arrest and prosecution of the remaining suspects believed to have participated in the attack.

WACOL further stated that the survivor and her husband had agreed to peaceful coexistence following structured mediation.

The organisation commended the Enugu State Government, the police command and the Ministry of Children, Gender and Social Development for their intervention, while promising to continue monitoring the case to ensure accountability and protection for the survivor and her children.
