Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has called for more empathy and maturity in Nigeria’s political conversations, urging people to stop spreading hate online.

In a recent Instagram post, Badmus reacted to a troubling trend where a social media influencer publicly wished death on someone because of political disagreements.

The actress expressed deep disappointment, saying such hateful behaviour is unacceptable, no matter how passionate one feels about politics.

“It’s truly disheartening to see a social media influencer use their platform to wish death on anyone at all,” she wrote. “No matter your political views, we must never let hate override our humanity.”

Badmus emphasized that Nigerians should aim for positive change through peaceful and respectful means—such as truth, unity, and dialogue—not through threats or insults.

She also encouraged fellow citizens to choose decency over division, reminding them that politics should never come at the cost of compassion and human dignity.

“We are capable of more,” she added. “Let’s not let our differences lead us into darkness. Respect, not hate, should guide our conversations.”

Her message has since sparked praise online, with many users commending her for standing up against toxic behaviour in political spaces.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
