ENERGIA MARKS 25 YEARS, TARGETS 20,000BPD EXPANSION

Indigenous energy company Energia Limited has commenced activities to mark its 25th anniversary, highlighting its growth and expanding ambitions in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

Established in 2001 by Nigerian oil and gas professionals, Energia began as an exploration and production company and has since developed into an integrated energy business with interests spanning crude oil production, gas processing, storage and export infrastructure.

A major milestone in the company’s development came in 2009 when it achieved first oil from the Ebendo/Obodeti field in Delta State.

Energia subsequently expanded its production and gas-processing infrastructure. In 2014, it upgraded its flow station capacity to 8,000 barrels of oil per day and 25 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.

The company crossed five million barrels in cumulative crude production in 2016 and reached the 10 million-barrel milestone in 2020.

Since 2021, Energia has invested in a produced-water treatment plant, acquired new 3D seismic data and drilled two additional wells in the northern section of its field.

The company is now working to increase its field capacity to 20,000 barrels per day as part of its next phase of growth.

Beyond its existing upstream operations, Energia has secured interests in the Ugbo and Irigbo marginal fields and is developing a 5,000 barrels-per-day crude distillation unit at Onshore Kwale in Delta State.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Oladimeji Bashorun, said the company’s next phase would focus on operational excellence, responsible energy development, innovation, strategic growth and stronger partnerships.

Chairman of Energia, George Osahon, said the 25-year milestone was a tribute to the company’s founders, employees, host communities, partners and other stakeholders who contributed to its development.

The anniversary is being celebrated under the theme “Honouring Energia’s Legacy. Shaping Tomorrow’s Energy,” with a five-month programme featuring stakeholder engagements, community initiatives and discussions on the future of Nigeria’s energy sector.

Energia said it would continue to strengthen its operational capabilities, expand its asset portfolio, advance gas monetisation and pursue strategic investments as it seeks to contribute to Nigeria’s long-term energy development.
