EMIR OF YAURI COMMENDS KEBBI GOVERNOR’S EFFORTS ON SECURITY, EDUCATION
The Emir of Yauri, Dr Zayyanu Abdullahi, has expressed appreciation to the Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, for what he described as significant interventions in security, education and other areas of development across the Yauri Emirate.
The traditional ruler said the emirate remained grateful for the administration’s attention to issues affecting residents, particularly efforts aimed at improving security and creating a more conducive environment for communities to pursue their economic and social activities. His comments came as he reviewed some of the interventions carried out by the state government in the area.
According to the Emir, the governor’s interventions had demonstrated a commitment to addressing challenges confronting the people of the emirate. He particularly highlighted the importance of government support in strengthening security, noting that the protection of lives and property remained essential to the stability and development of communities within Yauri and neighbouring areas.
The commendation comes against the backdrop of continuing security concerns in parts of Kebbi State. Governor Idris has previously called for stronger military action against bandit groups and said additional troops deployed to the Yauri, Shanga and Ngaski axis would complement existing security operations. The governor has also linked improved security to the ability of farmers to safely return to their farms and sustain agricultural activities.
The Emir’s remarks also touched on education, another area in which the state government has been pursuing interventions. He noted the importance of government investment in education to the future of young people in the emirate, particularly by improving access to learning opportunities and supporting the development of educational infrastructure.
Security remains a major concern for communities in the wider Yauri area. Earlier in 2026, the Emir called for better intelligence gathering, reconnaissance and the deployment of modern surveillance technology, including drones, following a deadly attack in Kebbi that claimed the lives of security personnel and a civilian. He had also commended Governor Idris for visiting affected areas and showing concern over the security situation.
The state government has continued to present security as a major priority of its administration. Official state government information lists security-related interventions alongside infrastructure and other development projects, while recent government activities have included additional support for security agencies operating across the state.
The Emir’s latest commendation therefore reflects the traditional institution’s acknowledgement of the state government’s efforts in addressing some of the challenges facing residents of the Yauri Emirate, particularly in the areas of security and education.
He urged continued cooperation between the traditional institution and the state government, stressing the importance of sustained interventions to improve the welfare of residents and promote stability across the emirate.
