A tragic incident occurred in the Shasha area of Lagos State on Saturday, August 10, as a 45-year-old electrician was electrocuted while attempting to reconnect electricity cables to a pole.

Confirming the development in a statement on Sunday, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the incident happened around 11:30 a.m.

According to him, police detectives were quickly dispatched to the scene after the case was reported. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, but was sadly confirmed dead by the attending doctor.

“The electrician lost his life while reconnecting electricity cables to an electric pole at Shasha,” Hundeyin stated.

He also noted that an investigation is currently underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Lagos Police Command extended condolences to the family of the deceased, urging members of the public, especially electricians and technicians, to exercise caution and adhere strictly to safety measures while working with electricity.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
