ELDER STATESMAN, DR. CHRISTOPHER KOLADE, DIES AT 92

Renowned broadcaster, diplomat, and elder statesman, Dr. Christopher Kolade, has passed away at the age of 92.

His family confirmed his passing in a statement released on Thursday, stating that the revered public figure died peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

“We are thankful for his incredible life of faith and service, and are grateful for God’s abundant blessings,” the family said in the statement.

Born on December 28, 1932, Dr. Kolade lived an exemplary life of integrity, leadership, and national service.

He was widely respected for his outstanding career in broadcasting, diplomacy, academia, and corporate governance.

Dr. Kolade served as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, and was a former Director-General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC). He also chaired several key national and corporate boards, including Cadbury Nigeria Plc and the SURE-P Committee.

His contributions to public service and moral leadership made him one of Nigeria’s most respected elder statesmen.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.
