Eko International Cup: Remo Stars Gear Up For Big Pre-season Clash In Lagos
NPFL champions Remo Stars have officially confirmed their participation in the highly-anticipated Eko International Cup (EIC) — a major pre-season football tournament set to electrify Lagos this July.
The Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, will host the tournament from July 6 to 13, bringing together eight top teams from across Africa in a high-octane football fiesta. The event is being organised in partnership with the Lagos State Government and SKI-Hi Entertainment.
🏆 Stars Collide in Lagos
Remo Stars won’t be going it alone — they'll share the spotlight with Nigerian heavyweights like Enyimba of Aba, Shooting Stars, and Ikorodu United. Adding an international edge, the tournament will also feature:
FC Kallon – Sierra Leone
Accra Hearts of Oak – Ghana
SuperSport United FC – South Africa
FC Dadje – Republic of Benin
This mix of continental talent makes EIC not just a warm-up, but a proving ground for clubs gearing up for serious competition in the new season.
🛠️ Remo Stars: Eyes on the Continent
The management of Remo Stars has confirmed the team’s readiness and is reportedly fine-tuning their squad in preparation for both the tournament and their CAF Champions League campaign.
“This tournament gives Remo Stars the perfect platform to test their strength ahead of their continental run,” said Onome Obruthe, Executive Director of Publicity and Strategy for the EIC Local Organizing Committee.
🎯 More Than a Tournament
Obruthe noted that the EIC isn’t just about football; it’s about preparation, strategy, and growth for all eight teams.
“It’s a chance for clubs to evaluate their squads before diving into both domestic and continental competitions,” he explained.
“We’re working closely with Lagos State to ensure this tournament leaves a lasting impact — not just on the teams, but on fans, talent scouts, and the wider football ecosystem.”
As kickoff draws closer, anticipation is building. For Remo Stars, the Eko International Cup is more than a pre-season event — it’s a launchpad for glory, both at home and across Africa.
