The Social Democratic Party candidate for Ekiti North Senatorial District, Peter Obafemi, has outlined plans to pursue reforms and improve representation if elected in the 2027 general elections.

Obafemi, who contested the 2026 Ekiti governorship election on the SDP platform, said his decision to seek a Senate seat reflected his continued interest in public service.

He identified devolution of powers, fiscal oversight, rural infrastructure, youth enterprise and constitutional recognition of traditional institutions as key areas of his proposed legislative agenda.

Obafemi said he would support measures aimed at giving greater authority and fiscal resources to sub-national and local governments. He also proposed stronger oversight of public finances and responsible management of public resources.

On infrastructure, he said he would pursue federal intervention projects covering rural roads and agro-processing facilities, as well as improved access to capital for farmers and traders.

He also proposed vocational training, technology adoption and enterprise financing programmes to address youth unemployment.

Obafemi urged residents of Ekiti North, comprising Ikole, Oye, Ido-Osi, Moba and Ilejemeje Local Government Areas, to support the SDP ahead of the election.
