The Ekiti State Police Command has presented insurance benefit cheques worth N9.797 million to families and beneficiaries of police officers who died in the line of duty. The presentation was made by the state Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, in Ado Ekiti.

Falade said the payment reflected the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to the welfare of its personnel and the families they leave behind. He described the financial support as an expression of appreciation for the sacrifices made by officers who lost their lives while carrying out their duties.

The commissioner acknowledged that no financial benefit could replace a deceased family member but said the payment would provide meaningful support to the affected families. He assured the beneficiaries that the police force would continue to remember and support families of officers who paid the ultimate price in service.

Falade urged the beneficiaries to use the funds responsibly, particularly for the education and welfare of the children of the deceased officers. He also commended the Inspector-General of Police, the Force Management Team, insurance stakeholders and the Force Insurance Unit for facilitating the settlement of the claims.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mathew Emmanuel appreciated the Inspector-General and the Nigeria Police Force for the gesture and continued support. He assured the police authorities that the funds would be used judiciously for the welfare and benefit of the families of the deceased officers.
