EKITI PDP CANDIDATE FAULTS GOV POLL, CONSULTS LAWYERS, PARTY
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the recent Ekiti State governorship election, Mr. Bisi Kolawole, has rejected the outcome of the poll, describing it as flawed and lacking credibility.
Kolawole, who came second in the election, has engaged legal experts and party leaders to explore options for challenging the results. He cited irregularities, voter suppression, and other malpractices as reasons for his dissatisfaction. “We cannot accept a process that undermines the will of the people,” he stated.
The PDP in Ekiti has expressed full support for the candidate’s position and vowed to pursue justice through all legal means available. Party officials have called for calm among supporters while the matter is being reviewed.
The development has heightened political tension in the state following the controversial election. Election observers have noted some irregularities, though the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has defended the overall conduct of the poll.
Legal experts expect the case to test the strength of Nigeria’s electoral dispute resolution mechanisms.
