Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has distributed 100 operational vehicles to security agencies across the state as part of efforts to improve security operations and response to emergencies.

The vehicles were handed over to the police, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Department of State Services and local security outfits during a ceremony in Ado-Ekiti.

Oyebanji said the vehicles were intended to improve the mobility of security personnel, increase patrols and strengthen responses to security incidents. He added that the vehicles would also support the eventual take-off of the proposed Ekiti State Police Outfit.

The governor urged security agencies to work together and make effective use of available surveillance technology. He also called for greater professionalism and warned personnel against poor maintenance of the vehicles.

Oyebanji said his administration would continue providing financial and logistical support to security agencies in the state. He recalled that the government had previously supplied patrol vehicles, armoured personnel carriers, protective equipment and other security resources.

The governor also commended traditional rulers, community security groups and local vigilantes for their role in maintaining security at the grassroots.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Brigadier General Ebenezer Ogundana (retd.), said the latest intervention would improve the operational capacity of security agencies across Ekiti.

The governor said the government would continue to strengthen the state’s security institutions and urged security personnel to remain vigilant and responsive in protecting residents and property.
