EKITI DECLARES MONDAY WORK-FREE FOR TEACHERS
State government grants holiday to public school educators to mark World Teachers’ Day
The Ekiti State Government has declared Monday, October 5, 2026, a work-free day for all teachers in public schools across the state to commemorate the annual World Teachers’ Day.
According to a statement issued by the State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Olabimpe Aderiye, the initiative is designed to afford educators the opportunity to participate fully in activities lined up to celebrate the global event.
The government noted that the gesture underscores the vital role teachers play in shaping society, driving human capital development, and building the future of the nation's youth.
Consequently, all day students in public schools are expected to stay at home for the day, while normal academic and administrative activities are scheduled to resume subsequently.
Parents, guardians, and school authorities have been urged to take note of the temporary adjustment to enable proper planning.
The declaration joins similar announcements from other state administrations honoring teachers for their resilience, sacrifice, and immense contributions to foundational education.
