The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved more than N10 billion for projects covering healthcare, water supply, roads, aviation and other infrastructure across the state.

The approvals were made during the council’s seventh meeting of 2026 and include N6.76 billion for the construction of new hospital buildings at General Hospitals in Ikogosi, Awo and Ipao-Ekiti. The three projects are expected to be completed within 10 months and will include wards, maternity facilities, theatres, laboratories and other essential structures.

The council also approved N1.68 billion for the rehabilitation and upgrading of 104 high-yielding boreholes into solar-powered water facilities under the World Bank-supported SURWASH programme.

Another N1.09 billion was approved for the construction of Olajiga Street, Egbewa, and roads within the GRA 3rd Extension in Ado-Ekiti. The project is expected to improve movement and connectivity within the state capital.

Other approvals include funding for an access road at the Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport and solar-powered streetlights in selected locations.

The state government said the projects are part of its efforts to improve access to healthcare, potable water, roads and other essential infrastructure across Ekiti.
