EKEDP BLAMES VANDALISM, TRANSMISSION UPGRADES FOR FESTAC POWER OUTAGES
The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDP) has attributed recent power outages in Festac and surrounding areas to incidents of vandalism and ongoing transmission infrastructure upgrades.
The company said damage to electricity facilities, combined with planned improvement works on the transmission network, has affected power supply to some customers within its coverage area.
EKEDP explained that the upgrades are necessary to improve the reliability and capacity of the electricity network, while efforts are being made to restore stable supply as quickly as possible.
The distribution company condemned acts of vandalism, noting that the destruction of power infrastructure increases operational challenges, causes service disruptions, and delays efforts to improve electricity delivery.
Energy experts said addressing infrastructure vandalism alongside investments in transmission and distribution networks is critical to achieving a more reliable power sector.
EKEDP urged residents to support efforts to protect electricity infrastructure and assured customers that it remains committed to improving service delivery and reducing disruptions across its network.
