The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has placed its personnel on heightened alert, issuing a “no holiday” directive to safeguard lives and property during the Eid-il-Fitr celebrations.

In a statement released on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SF Anyam Barnabas, the FCT Controller, Mohammed Suleiman Anas, emphasized that the Service will remain fully operational throughout the festive period.

Speaking during a pre-Eid briefing with station commanders, Anas ordered the deployment of maximum manpower across all units. He also directed that all fire trucks and rescue equipment be kept in optimal condition to ensure swift emergency response.

He reaffirmed that, as a critical emergency service provider, the agency does not observe public holidays, maintaining continuous, round-the-clock readiness to respond to incidents across the Federal Capital Territory.

“The Service provides essential services and remains operational at all times, including during holidays,” Anas stated, assuring residents of prompt and effective intervention in emergencies.

While extending Eid greetings to Muslim faithful on the successful completion of Ramadan, he warned that festive periods often come with an increased risk of fire outbreaks.

He advised residents to adhere to basic safety precautions, such as switching off electrical appliances when not in use, avoiding unattended cooking, and refraining from the use of fireworks.

Anas also urged the public to keep emergency contact numbers readily available, noting that incidents can be reported promptly to the FCT Command via 08032003557.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
