Egbin Power has commenced the 11th edition of its annual scholarship programme, with more than 250 students from its host communities participating in the 2026 pre-test exercise.

The scholarship programme provides free educational support to outstanding pupils and students selected from primary and secondary schools within the company’s host communities. The initiative is part of Egbin Power’s Personal Corporate Social Responsibility programme and aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 on quality education.

The 2026 edition will go beyond the scholarship examination, with an education fair, boot camp, mentorship sessions and playgroup activities planned for participants.

The activities are designed to support students academically while helping them develop confidence, discipline, leadership skills and other important life skills.

The Chief Executive Officer of Egbin Power, Mokhtar Bounour, said the company remained committed to using education to support sustainable development in its host communities.

He said the company’s responsibility extended beyond electricity generation to creating opportunities and nurturing young talent.

Egbin Power also said its wider community development efforts cover healthcare, youth empowerment, infrastructure and human capital development.

The company said it would continue investing in initiatives that create opportunities for young people and contribute to the development of its host communities.
