The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has recovered N1.233tn and secured 10,872 convictions over a 34-month period, according to the anti-graft agency.

The EFCC disclosed the figures while highlighting its activities and achievements under its current leadership. The commission said the recoveries were part of its efforts to combat financial crimes and strengthen enforcement against individuals involved in fraudulent activities.

The agency also reported that thousands of convictions had been secured through its investigations and prosecutions during the period under review.

The EFCC said its operations covered various forms of economic and financial crimes, including fraud, money laundering and other offences involving illicit financial transactions.

The commission has continued to intensify investigations and prosecutions as part of efforts to recover proceeds linked to financial crimes and deter potential offenders.

The reported recoveries and convictions represent the outcome of investigations conducted across different parts of the country during the 34-month period.

The agency reiterated its commitment to strengthening its enforcement activities and ensuring that individuals found culpable of financial crimes are brought before the courts.

The EFCC said it would continue working with relevant stakeholders to tackle economic and financial crimes and protect Nigeria’s financial system.
