EFCC PROBES EIGHT SUSPECTED OIL THIEVES IN PORT HARCOURT
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have launched an investigation into eight suspects arrested over alleged involvement in illegal oil activities in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The suspects were reportedly apprehended during a coordinated operation targeting individuals believed to be engaged in crude oil theft and related economic crimes in the region.
According to officials, the operation followed credible intelligence linking the suspects to activities involving the illegal diversion and sale of petroleum products.
Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects may have been part of a network involved in siphoning crude oil and distributing it through unauthorised channels.
The anti-graft agency said the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation as investigators work to uncover the extent of the alleged operation and identify other possible collaborators.
The commission added that the suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
