The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has stepped up its fight against cybercrime with the arrest of 12 suspects in Lagos.

In a statement released by its Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, the anti-graft agency revealed that the arrests were carried out on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, during a sting operation in the Ajegunle-Apapa area of the state.

The operation was based on credible intelligence indicating that a group of individuals in the locality were allegedly engaged in internet-related criminal activities.

The EFCC noted that the suspects are currently undergoing profiling. They will be formally charged to court once investigations are concluded and sufficient evidence has been gathered.

This latest operation highlights the EFCC’s continued efforts to clamp down on cybercrime, which remains a major concern across Nigeria. The agency has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities in their communities.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
