EFCC ARRAIGNS BLESSING CEO OVER ALLEGED ₦36 MILLION FRAUD

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned the Chief Executive Officer of Blessing Company, known as Blessing CEO, before a court for an alleged ₦36 million fraud.

The EFCC docked the suspect on Thursday on charges bordering on fraud. Prosecutors claim the CEO allegedly obtained the sum through false pretences from victims.

Details of the alleged offence are still sketchy, but EFCC officials said the matter involves obtaining money under false representation. The anti-graft agency told the court that investigations revealed the suspect allegedly defrauded individuals and possibly companies to the tune of ₦36 million.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him in court. His legal team asked the court to grant him bail, arguing that he is not a flight risk and will cooperate fully with the commission.

The EFCC opposed the bail application, saying the suspect may interfere with investigations if released. The judge has reserved ruling on the bail request and adjourned the case to a later date for hearing.

This latest case adds to several ongoing EFCC prosecutions involving individuals and business owners accused of financial crimes. The court proceedings are being closely followed as the matter progresses.

The EFCC has urged members of the public with useful information about the case to come forward as investigations continue.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
