EDO WOOS SAUDI INVESTORS FOR 2027 AGRIC, LIVESTOCK SUMMIT
The Edo State Government has begun talks to attract Saudi Arabian investment into its agricultural and livestock sectors ahead of an investment summit planned for the first quarter of 2027.
The move followed a meeting between the state Commissioner for Livestock Development, Ohimai Ehijimetor, and Saudi Arabian Embassy officials in Abuja on October 21, 2026.
Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Ambassador, Abdulrahman Altwaim, and Head of Economic Cooperation, Yazid Halawani, participated in the discussions.
According to a statement released on Friday, the meeting explored partnerships to expand agricultural production, livestock development and agro-industrial activities in Edo.
Ehijimetor said the embassy had pledged to help mobilise investors for the forthcoming Edo International Agricultural and Livestock Investment Summit.
He added that the embassy would arrange meetings in Riyadh, allowing Edo officials to discuss opportunities directly with Saudi investment companies.
The commissioner described the engagement as successful and expressed optimism that it would create opportunities for the state.
Edo plans to use the summit to attract funding for production, processing and other businesses across the agricultural value chain.
The proposed Riyadh meetings would provide an opportunity to present investment prospects and identify potential areas of cooperation.
However, no specific projects, investment amounts or completed agreements have been announced. The discussions remain part of the state’s preparations to build international partnerships ahead of the summit.
