EDO APC VOWS ACTION AGAINST COMMISSIONERS WHO REJECT ‘TINUBU CAP’
The Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jarrett Tenebe, has declared that any commissioner barred from the State Executive Council meeting for failing to wear the ‘Asiwaju cap’ as instructed by Governor Monday Okpebholo will face suspension from the party.
Governor Okpebholo had, on October 14, while swearing in newly cleared commissioners and inaugurating state boards and commissions, directed members of his cabinet to demonstrate their loyalty to President Bola Tinubu through the wearing of branded outfits.
Tenebe condemned any refusal to comply with the directive, describing it as an act of indiscipline and insubordination. He stressed that the party would not condone any form of disloyalty.
“If you refuse to wear the cap as the governor has directed, we will suspend you. That is indiscipline and insubordination,” Tenebe said.
He explained that the gesture was part of efforts to reaffirm the party’s support for President Tinubu, noting that the Edo APC had pledged to deliver 3.5 million votes for him.
“If, as a member of the APC, you received an appointment, you are expected to be loyal to the President. We are showing that loyalty by wearing the cap,” he stated.
“Those complaining are not genuine APC members. In Edo, we have made it clear — no Asiwaju cap, no Exco,” he added.
