EDDIE HOWE: ISAK CAN’T BE PART OF NEWCASTLE SQUAD AMID LIVERPOOL TRANSFER TALK
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has admitted that Alexander Isak will not be involved with the squad for now as uncertainty over his future continues.
The Swedish striker is pushing for a move to Liverpool this summer, having already informed the Newcastle hierarchy of his desire to leave. Reports suggest that Liverpool are preparing a fresh bid if Newcastle show willingness to negotiate.
Isak has made it clear he no longer wants to play or remain at St James’ Park, with his focus set on a switch to Anfield.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Howe, as quoted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, said:
“It’s clear at the moment we can’t have Isak involved with the group. He is here, so of course he has a future at Newcastle. From our perspective, we would love to have him back with the team, but the situation has to be right for that to happen.”
With just weeks left in the transfer window, all eyes are on whether Newcastle will stand firm or allow their star striker to join Jurgen Klopp’s side.
