D’TIGRESS RETAIN TOP SPOT IN AFRICA IN LATEST FIBA WOMEN’S WORLD RANKINGS

Nigeria women's national basketball team have maintained their position as the highest-ranked women’s basketball team in Africa in the latest rankings released by FIBA.
The Nigerian side, coached by Rena Wakama, accumulated 700.3 points in the updated global rankings.
D’Tigress remain the only African team listed among the top 10 teams in the world, further underlining their dominance on the continent.
The reigning African champions were recently in action at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament held in Lyon. During the competition, the team recorded two victories and suffered three defeats.
In the global standings, the United States women's national basketball team retained the number one position.
France women's national basketball team moved up to second place after overtaking Australia women's national basketball team, who dropped to third.
China women's national basketball team and Belgium women's national basketball team completed the top five teams in the latest rankings.
D’Tigress’ consistent performance in international competitions has helped them maintain their strong position in global women’s basketball while continuing to lead the sport’s development in Africa.
