Businessman Aliko Dangote has said ordinary Nigerians, including drivers, cooks and traders, can become shareholders in the Dangote Petroleum Refinery as the company considers broader public participation.

Dangote said the planned shareholding structure would allow Nigerians from different backgrounds to own a stake in the refinery and benefit from its growth.

He explained that ownership of major businesses should not be limited to wealthy investors, stressing that ordinary Nigerians should also have opportunities to participate in the country’s industrial development.

The billionaire said the refinery was established as a long-term investment in Nigeria’s energy sector and could create opportunities for both investors and the wider economy.

He added that the company’s expansion would support increased domestic production of petroleum products and reduce the country’s dependence on imported refined products.

Dangote has previously indicated that the refinery could be listed on the Nigerian Exchange Group, potentially allowing Nigerians to buy shares in the business through the capital market.

The move would give retail investors an opportunity to participate in the performance of one of Nigeria’s largest industrial projects.

Dangote said the broader objective was to ensure that Nigerians could share in the value created by major investments in the country.
