Driver Found Dead in Car Near Police Checkpoint in Abaji

A driver, identified as Mr. Isaac Ugwu Anayo, has been found dead inside his vehicle along the Abuja-Lokoja highway in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The unfortunate discovery was made near a police checkpoint in the Abaji area.

According to witnesses, Mr. Anayo had parked his Volkswagen Pickup van with registration number ARP 192XA by the roadside. When police officers approached the vehicle, they found the man with foam coming from his mouth, prompting them to immediately contact officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

An anonymous FRSC official confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, stating that police at the checkpoint raised the alarm. FRSC officials transported the man to a hospital, where doctors officially confirmed he was deceased. The cause of death is still unknown.

Mr. Anayo’s body has since been deposited at the Abaji General Hospital mortuary. Authorities have been able to contact his family after recovering a phone from the vehicle, and an investigation into the circumstances of his death is underway. A police source at the Abaji division has also confirmed the incident.
