DRIVER ABANDONS SUV, FLEES AFTER FATAL CRASH IN ANAMBRA

Tragedy struck in Obosi, near Onitsha, on Saturday morning after a Lexus SUV rammed into two tricycles, popularly known as Keke, killing one passenger instantly and leaving others injured.

 

The incident occurred at People's Club on Limca Road, sparking panic in the area. According to eyewitnesses, the SUV driver and other occupants immediately fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle after the crash.

 

Police operatives from Isiowulu Division quickly arrived at the scene, securing the area and preventing possible unrest. The injured victims were rushed to a hospital, while the deceased passenger was taken to the morgue.

 

Confirming the incident, Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said:

 

“Preliminary information shows that the driver of the Lexus rammed into the tricycles, leading to the death of one occupant, while others sustained varying degrees of injury. The vehicle was abandoned at the scene as its occupants fled.”

 

He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered a full investigation into the fatal crash and assured residents that the culprits would be tracked down.

 

The police also appealed to residents of the area to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as investigations continue.
