DRAMA IN ABUJA: AIR FORCE OFFICERS ALLEGEDLY INVADE PROPERTY DESPITE COURT ORDER IN COUPLE’S PROPERTY DISPUTE
A messy property battle between a Benue politician and his estranged wife has taken a dramatic turn as armed Air Force personnel allegedly invaded a disputed Abuja property—despite a clear court order to maintain the status quo.
The politician, Ewaoche Benjamin Obe, who contested the 2023 Benue governorship election under the African Action Congress (AAC), is currently in a legal tussle with his wife, Mrs. Christiana Owofuni Obe, over ownership of a house located at No. 8 Ayo Solomon Crescent, Sagwari Layout, Dutse Makaranta in Abuja.
Trouble reportedly began when Mrs. Obe allegedly used the property as collateral for a loan, leading to Mr. Obe being evicted. In response, he approached a High Court in the Bwari Area Council to challenge what he described as false claims by his wife, her company Jesryte Global Resources Ltd, and one Mr. Thomas Onuh.
After hearing from both sides, Justice M.A. Madugu ordered all parties to “maintain the status quo” pending the outcome of the case, which is now set for hearing on November 12, 2025.
However, just one day after the court order was issued on July 16, residents say armed personnel from the Nigerian Air Force—allegedly linked to Mrs. Obe—stormed the property, tore down the court order notice pasted on the gate, and broke through the locked entrance.
Things escalated again on Tuesday, July 22, when over 20 fully armed officers returned to the estate in three armored vans, reportedly to remove a re-pasted copy of the court order. Shocked residents raised the alarm, calling it a clear violation of a standing judicial order.
Viral videos now circulating online show uniformed officers surrounding the house and disregarding the visible court directive.
When contacted, Mrs. Christiana Owofuni Obe, who works with the Nigeria Air Force Conference Center in Abuja, declined to comment directly. She promised to forward her lawyer’s contact for an official response but had not done so at the time of this report
.
The case has sparked widespread attention, raising concerns about the abuse of military power in civil matters and respect for the rule of law in Nigeria.
