DON URGES GRADUATES TO SHUN CORRUPTION, UPHOLD INTEGRITY
The Chancellor of Dominion University, Ibadan, Taiwo Adelakun, has urged new graduates to reject corruption and put their education to work in solving Nigeria’s problems.
Adelakun spoke at the university’s fourth convocation ceremony on Saturday, where 140 students graduated, including 27 with First Class degrees.
He encouraged the graduates to build their careers on discipline, hard work and strong moral values, warning against sacrificing their reputations for money or influence.
“Never allow the pursuit of wealth, power or position to compromise your integrity,” he said.
The chancellor stressed that their responsibility extended beyond personal success. He urged them to become positive contributors to society and demonstrate honesty in both their private lives and professional dealings.
Reflecting on the institution’s growth over seven years, Adelakun said all its academic programmes had secured full accreditation, with three due for reaccreditation in 2026.
He also celebrated the graduating class, known as the Daystars, which follows earlier sets named the Pacesetters, Lightbearers and Eagles.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Jonah Akoun, said the university offered 16 academic programmes and had 780 students at the close of the 2025/2026 academic session.
The ceremony recognised the graduates’ academic achievements while emphasising the character and responsibility expected of them as they begin the next stage of their lives.
