DOCTOR EXPLAINS PALLIATIVE CARE AFTER OGOGO’S DAUGHTERS RAISE ALARM
A doctor has explained what palliative care means after the daughters of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, raised concerns about their father’s treatment.
Ogogo’s daughters had appealed for help, saying their father is battling stage-four cancer and needed medical attention. Their comments sparked concern among fans, colleagues and other Nigerians.
Speaking on the situation, doctor Olusina Ajidahun explained that palliative care does not mean a patient has been abandoned or that doctors have stopped caring.
He said palliative care is often considered when a serious illness has reached an advanced stage and focuses on managing pain and other symptoms while improving the patient’s comfort and quality of life.
The doctor also warned against relying on unverified herbal treatments, especially when dealing with advanced cancer. He advised patients and their families to work closely with qualified medical professionals before making treatment decisions.
The explanation comes as members of the Nollywood community continue to show concern and support for Ogogo and his family.
For many Nigerians who have watched Ogogo’s career over the years, the news has been emotional. His daughters’ appeal has also brought attention to the difficulties families can face when dealing with serious illnesses.
While the family continues to seek the best possible care for the veteran actor, fans and colleagues have continued to send their prayers and support.
