Nigeria’s electricity distribution companies collected ₦205.53bn from customers in July 2026, while the sector recorded a significant gap between the value of electricity received and the amount billed.

According to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission’s July 2026 Commercial Performance Factsheet, the 11 DisCos received electricity worth ₦333.94bn during the month but billed customers ₦250.79bn. This represented a billing efficiency of 75.10 per cent.

The companies recorded an 81.95 per cent collection efficiency after recovering ₦205.53bn from the amount billed. This left about ₦45.26bn of the July billings uncollected.

NERC said the industry’s overall revenue recovery efficiency stood at 74.91 per cent during the month.

The performance varied across the distribution companies. Eko DisCo recorded the highest revenue recovery efficiency at 94.67 per cent, followed by Port Harcourt DisCo with 84.95 per cent and Benin DisCo with 79.15 per cent.

The latest figures highlight the continuing difference between electricity supplied to DisCos, the amount billed to consumers and revenue ultimately collected.

NERC said the factsheet was released to provide stakeholders with information on the financial performance and efficiency of electricity distribution companies across Nigeria.
