Nigeria’s electricity distribution companies collected N205.53bn in revenue in July 2026, while the value of electricity billed fell short of the energy received by N83.15bn, according to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.

NERC disclosed this in its July 2026 factsheet on the financial performance and efficiency of the Distribution Companies. The report showed that the DisCos received electricity worth N333.94bn but billed customers N250.79bn during the month.

The figures represented a billing efficiency of 75.10 per cent, while the DisCos recorded a collection efficiency of 81.95 per cent after collecting N205.53bn from the amount billed.

Overall revenue recovery efficiency for the electricity distribution industry stood at 74.91 per cent in July.

Among the DisCos, Eko Electricity Distribution Company recorded the highest recovery efficiency at 94.67 per cent. Port Harcourt DisCo followed with 84.95 per cent, while Benin DisCo recorded 79.15 per cent.

The commission said the factsheet was part of its efforts to provide stakeholders with information on the financial health and operational performance of electricity distribution companies.

NERC continues to publish industry performance data covering billing, revenue collection and other indicators as part of efforts to improve transparency and accountability within Nigeria’s electricity supply industry.
