Popular Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon is facing backlash on social media after a post he made on X (formerly Twitter) was seen as mocking upcoming or unskilled actors.

The actor had tweeted:
“Involve me, involve me… but you no sabi act!”

Almost immediately, many users interpreted the post as a subtle jab at aspiring actors seeking roles without having the required talent or training. But instead of laughing along, fans came for him.

Fans Drag Deyemi Over His Tweet

A section of social media users accused him of being disrespectful and insensitive. Some even questioned his own acting talent.

One user wrote:

“You shouldn’t be the one tweeting this sha.”

Another critic, Semilore, added:

“Nothing special about acting though, even you no sabi act.”

More comments poured in:

Fash: “Actors are supposed to be handsome. How did you involve yourself?”

Mhide: “Says wannabe Damson Idris.”

Cryptodinho: “I don't think I’ve seen any of your movies where I liked your acting.”

Ladie: “You wey sabi act, you’re still managing YouTube movies…”

The reactions kept piling up, turning the actor’s tweet into a heated debate.

Some Fans Defend Him

Amid the dragging, a few supporters jumped in to defend Deyemi, insisting that people misunderstood his intention.

Tochi wrote:

“Nigerians are just being unnecessarily serious. Shey na this guy cause una predicament?”

Sylvia also defended him, saying:

“It’s how y’all are lying in broad daylight for me. Deyemi cannot act ke? Liarssss!”
