DEPUTY SPEAKER SAYS GOVERNOR ENO’S AWARD IS A COLLECTIVE VICTORY FOR AKWA IBOM
The Deputy Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, KufreAbasi Edidem, has praised the recent excellence award presented to Governor Umo Eno, describing it as an achievement shared by the entire people of Akwa Ibom.
Governor Eno received the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS) on Sustainable Development and Community Empowerment on Saturday. The award was presented on behalf of President Bola Tinubu by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, during a ceremony at the Conference Centre of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The recognition comes just days after the governor was reportedly listed by the International Press Institute, Nigeria, in its “book of infamy” over allegations of suppressing journalists.
Speaking in Uyo on Tuesday, Edidem said the honour reflects the governor’s dedication to sustainable development, empowerment at the grassroots, and inclusive leadership under the ARISE Agenda.
Representing the Itu State Constituency, the Deputy Speaker noted that the award symbolizes not only the governor’s personal achievement but also a collective endorsement of the positive impact felt by Akwa Ibom residents through various strategic initiatives. He highlighted progress in economic inclusion, youth empowerment, social welfare, infrastructure upgrades, and community-driven development.
He stated, “Governor Umo Eno has, in a short period, shown a strong commitment to improving the living standards of our people. His emphasis on community empowerment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable growth has placed Akwa Ibom on a renewed path of progress and national visibility.
“This award is not just for the governor—it is a shared honour for the people of Akwa Ibom State whose lives continue to benefit from carefully targeted policies and programmes.”
He reaffirmed that the State Assembly remains committed to working closely with the executive to deliver effective and impactful governance to citizens
