DEMOCRACY DAY: GOV. IDRIS REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO WELFARE, SECURITY AND RULE OF LAW
Governor Nasir Idris has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving citizens’ welfare, strengthening security, and upholding the rule of law as Nigeria marks this year’s Democracy Day celebration.
In a statement commemorating June 12, the governor described democracy as a system that thrives on accountability, justice, and service to the people. He noted that his administration remains focused on delivering policies and programmes that directly improve the lives of residents.
Idris emphasized that the welfare of citizens will continue to be a top priority, highlighting ongoing efforts in key sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure development.
On security, the governor reiterated his government's determination to work closely with security agencies and community leaders to protect lives and property across the state. He stated that lasting development can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace and stability.
The governor also stressed the importance of the rule of law in sustaining democratic governance, assuring residents that his administration will continue to promote fairness, justice, and respect for constitutional principles.
He urged citizens to remain law-abiding and actively participate in democratic processes, noting that national development requires collective effort from both leaders and the governed.
Idris paid tribute to the heroes of Nigeria’s democratic struggle, saying their sacrifices paved the way for the freedoms and opportunities enjoyed today.
As the country celebrates another Democracy Day, the governor expressed optimism that unity, responsible leadership, and active citizenship will continue to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy and drive sustainable development.
